United Airlines experienced a system-wide computer outage Friday evening. Computer services were restored at Midnight CT, but planes and crew remain out of position throughout the country, and United expects delays and cancellations throughout the weekend. United is allowing affected customers to rebook without penalties. United has not provided further information as to the cause of the computer system failure. Flights operated by Continental, United’s merger partner, have not been affected with the exception of code-share flight’s actually operated by United. It is recommended that you confirm all reservations for either airline. Travelers on Star Alliance code-share flights operated by United should also confirm their flights.
