Warning: Sleeping on a Plane Can Lead to Lawsuits

Warning: Falling asleep on an airline could result in false imprisonment, emotional distress, and negligence.

At least that’s what one passenger aboard a United Airlines flight is claiming in a lawsuit, after she was left sleeping aboard her flight for three hours after it had landed.

NextGen Moves Forward in Philadelphia

The transition to the new air traffic control system — dubbed NextGen — is taking the next step in Philadelphia.

Air traffic controllers at the busy east coast hub are now using a satellite-based system to track and separate aircraft in the congested skies over the region, says the Federal Aviation Administration.

DOT Says ‘No’ to Tarmac Delay Exemptions

Requests by five airlines for exemptions to the three-hour tarmac delay rule have been rejected by the Department of Transportation.

American, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, and US Airways had requested exemptions to the new rule, which goes into effect April 29.

AA, Delta and JetBlue asked for the exemption at New York-JFK airport, which is already being hampered by the temporary shutdown of its main runway for resurfacing.  Continental asked for relief at Newark and New York-LaGuardia, while US Airways asked for an exemption at its Philadelphia hub.
