That’s precisely what’s happening in Chicago at O’Hare International Airport, and a similar situation could soon be happening at Los Angeles International Airport as well.
But for airports — not to mention city and state governments — rental cars have already become a real cash cow.
Atlanta Retains Title as World's Busiest Airport

The airport that’s home to the world’s largest carrier also remains as the world’s busiest airport.
Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International is still in the number one position, with 88.0 million passengers in 2009. Despite a 2.3 percent drop in passengers from 2008, Atlanta remains far ahead of the second-place airport, London Heathrow, which was used by 66.0 million passengers.
Making big moves up the list was Beijing. The airport saw a whopping 16.8 percent increase in passengers, taking it to the number three spot.
LAX Among 11 Airports Receiving New Full Body Scanners

New full body scanning machines are now arriving at 11 major U.S. airports.
It’s part of the Transportation Security Administration’s plan to deploy 1,000 machines over the next two years.
Airports receiving the new equipment: Los Angeles International, Boston Logan, Chicago O’Hare, Charlotte Douglas, Cincinnati, Columbus, Fort Lauderdale, Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, and San Jose, Calif.
