In a move that will likely surprise travelers who have become accustomed to an ever increasing list of fees, Frontier Airlines is actually reducing and eliminating some of those extra charges.

The airline is reducing the same-day change fee from $100 to $50, for passengers wanting to take an earlier or later flight than the one they’ve booked.

Allegiant to Launch Service at Long Beach July 1

Low-cost carrier Allegiant Air is ready to launch service at a second airport serving the Los Angeles area.

On July 1, the Las Vegas-based company will inaugurate service between Long Beach Airport and Bellingham, Washington.

Bellingham is a significant market for Allegiant.

Frontier’s Spokesanimals Live On!

A crowd of 400 at Coors Field in Denver erupted into a roaring applause with today’s special announcement:

Frontier Airlines will live on. And so will its iconic spokesanimals.

At a special joint media event held in both Denver and Milwaukee, Republic Airways announced that it would go with the Frontier name for its new unified brand for Frontier and Midwest Airlines.

FAA Proposes $380,000 Fine Against Frontier

Frontier Airlines is facing a sizable fine as a result of allegedly operating several aircraft that were not in compliance with federal regulations.

The Federal Aviation Administration has proposed a fine of $380,000 against the carrier for operating the planes on some 900 flights.

In 2008 and 2009, Frontier reconfigured passenger cabins aboard some of its planes, which gave dual-aisle access to its overwing emergency exits.

New Name for Frontier-Midwest Next Week

Republic Airways, owner of Frontier and Midwest Airlines, is ready to make an announcement on a new name for its airlines.

The company has scheduled events for Tuesday, April 13, in both Denver and Milwaukee to make the announcement.

Indianapolis-based Republic said its intent is to unify the brands, giving customers a consistent experience throughout the Republic-Frontier-Midwest network.  The company has not indicated whether it will choose one of the existing names, or a brand new name entirely.

Save the Frontier Spokesanimals!

There’s a fight on in Denver to save some of the airline industry’s most lovable spokesmen – make that, spokescritters.

“Save our animals, save our tails!” chanted a group of Frontier Airlines employees and supporters Thursday, as they marched through downtown Denver.

They were rallying in an effort to save the colorful animals that adorn the tails of Frontier’s planes.

Frontier, Midwest to Fly Under One Brand

The U.S. airline industry appears to be about to lose two familiar names from the skies.
Republic Airways, owner of Frontier and Midwest, has decided to go to a unified brand for the two carriers, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Republic bought Denver’s Frontier and Milwaukee’s Midwest last year, and has already been cutting costs and streamlining operations at the two brands.
