JetBlue Adds Flights at LAX

There’s good news for LA and New York travelers who prefer to fly with JetBlue.

The airline is doubling its flights from Los Angeles International Airport to New York-JFK.  Beginning July 1, there will be four daily non-stops between the two gateway airports.

JetBlue initially set up its main base of operations in the Los Angeles area at Long Beach Airport, and also offers service from Burbank’s Bob Hope Airport.

LAX Among 11 Airports Receiving New Full Body Scanners

New full body scanning machines are now arriving at 11 major U.S. airports.

It’s part of the Transportation Security Administration’s plan to deploy 1,000 machines over the next two years.

Airports receiving the new equipment: Los Angeles International, Boston Logan, Chicago O’Hare, Charlotte Douglas, Cincinnati, Columbus, Fort Lauderdale, Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, and San Jose, Calif.

Child Directs Air Traffic; FAA Investigating

Two employees at the air traffic control tower at New York JFK airport are under investigation after audio tapes revealed that children were allowed to give directions to pilots last month on two separate occasions.

Investigators discovered that an air traffic controller brought one of his children and then another on succeeding days in February.

In the recording, a child is heard making five transmissions to pilots, and the pilots respond enthusiastically.  Here’s a clip of the audio, courtesy Boston’s Fox25 TV:
