Turtle Kicked Off Plane

A stressful ordeal has ended on a happy note for a little turtle who was kicked off an AirTran flight in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Neytiri, a red-eared slider, has been reunited with her owner, 10-year old Carley Helm, and her family back in Milwaukee.

The ordeal began hen Carley and her two older sisters were on board AirTran flight 421, heading home to Milwaukee after visiting their father in Atlanta.

Guns at Airports

Controversial new legislation in Georgia that would permit guns in public areas of airports is now drawing federal lawmakers into the debate.

The Georgia State Assembly recently passed a bill that would permit guns in public areas of airports in the state, including the world’s busiest airport, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International.  The bill is awaiting the Governor’s signature.

Delta Flight Diverted Due to Disruptive Passenger

A Delta Air Lines flight from Paris to Atlanta has been diverted to Bangor, Maine this afternoon, after a passenger allegedly made threats while in flight.

Air marshals on board the Airbus A330 subdued the man, says the Transportation Security Administration.

Atlanta Retains Title as World's Busiest Airport

The airport that’s home to the world’s largest carrier also remains as the world’s busiest airport.

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International is still in the number one position, with 88.0 million passengers in 2009. Despite a 2.3 percent drop in passengers from 2008, Atlanta remains far ahead of the second-place airport, London Heathrow, which was used by 66.0 million passengers.

Making big moves up the list was Beijing.  The airport saw a whopping 16.8 percent increase in passengers, taking it to the number three spot.

Computer Glitch Causes Flight Delays

An FAA computer outage in Atlanta is causing flight delays across the nation today.

The delay has been fixed, but due to a backlog of flights this morning, delays are likely to continue throughout the day.

The problem originated in Atlanta, which has been seeing major delays. Also feeling the impact are airports in Washington, Philadelphia, New York, and Chicago.
