JetBlue Rated Top U.S. Brand

A low-cost carrier that’s been flying for just 10 years has quickly managed to cement itself as the top U.S. brand when it comes to “social currency”, according to a new study.
The report, Social Currency: Why Brands Need to Build and Nurture Social Currency, says that JetBlue is the top dog among U.S. companies.
The report, by Vivald-iPartners, says “social currency” is the extent to which people share the brand or information about the brand as part of their everyday social lives at work or at home.

Alitalia
There’s a lot happening at LAX these days, with the recent unveiling of the new-look Tom Bradley International Terminal, and the continuing construction on the Bradley West expansion project.
But there’s also news when it comes to the flights themselves.
Alitalia is kicking off its service to Rome on June 5. The flights are the only non-stop service between the West Coast and Italy. The Italian flagship carrier will offer flights five times a week.
Frequent Flyer News: Virgin Brands Team Up

If you fly Virgin America, you’ve now got more opportunities to collect and redeem your frequent flyer miles.
Three airlines carrying the Virgin brand – Virgin America, Virgin Blue, and V Australia – have announced a partnership for their respective frequent flyers.
The agreement will allow customers of the three carriers to accumulate miles on flights with any of the three carriers.
Virgin America Adds Orlando, Toronto – and More Cities Coming Soon

Virgin America is announcing the addition of two new cities to its system this year, and there are more destinations on the way.
In August, the airline launches daily service to Orlando from both San Francisco and Los Angeles.
And pending regulatory approval, new flights to Toronto will begin in June. The carrier will also fly to Toronto from both SFO and LAX.

One passenger aboard the plane took it up on himself to post messages and photos while sitting on the tarmac. David Martin, CEO of social networking site Kontain.com, caught the attention of the airline after they got wind of his posts about the ordeal.
Nightmare: 16-Hour Flight from LA to NY

Passengers aboard a Virgin America flight from LA to New York this weekend got more than they bargained for.
Their five hour 20 minute flight turned into a 16-hour nightmare.
Virgin America Flight 404 departed from Los Angeles International Airport at 7:10 a.m. Saturday. It was to have arrived at New York-JFK at 3:30 p.m.

One of my favorite airports to travel through is also one of the top destinations from Los Angeles International Airport.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport — or simply Sea-Tac, as it’s more commonly known — is home to Alaska Airlines and sister company Horizon Air.
Alaska is the dominant carrier from Los Angeles to Seattle, but they’ve also got competition from United (SkyWest) and Virgin America.
