Updated March 19, 2014 — 3:11 pm PDT
The disappearance of Malaysia airlines Flight 370 has created intense international interest. Following are links to various sources of ongoing coverage:
CNN – For better or worse, it’s pretty much wall-to-wall coverage on CNN. Much of it is repetitive much of the coverage is simply based on speculation – since that is mostly what is currently “available.” If you can cut through the abundant filler and some ridiculous speculation, there are moments of insight to be found.
ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox News – all have coverage within their broadcasts and and online. Fox News generally has less coverage online than the other networks and CNN
The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post – all have daily coverage. The New York Times and Wall Street Journal have broken numerous stories

Updated March 19, 2014 — 3:29 pm PDT
The following information is from a press release put out by the FAA.
WASHINGTON – The Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today released the findings of a review team formed in January 2013 to review the Boeing 787’s design, manufacture and assembly processes. The joint team of FAA and Boeing technical experts found that the aircraft was soundly designed, met its intended safety level, and that the manufacturer and the FAA had effective processes in place to identify and correct issues that emerged before and after certification. The team made seven recommendations for further improvements in Boeing processes and FAA oversight.
FAA Administrator Michael P. Huerta asked the team to review the 787’s critical systems on January 11, 2013, after a lithium battery fire on a 787 in Boston. The FAA members were engineers and other technical experts who were not closely involved in the original 787 certification process.

April 26, 2013 — 11:12 am PDT
Updated April 26, 2013 — 11:15 am PDT
(Washington, DC) Following on the heels of last night’s Senate resolution, the House passed the Reducing Flight Delays Act of 2013, a bill (H.R. 1765) to ensure the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) can end furloughs of air traffic controllers. The bill passed the House by a vote of 361 to 41. After much debate about how much flexibility the FAA had to make the necessary funds available to keep controllers on the job, this legislation ensures that there would be no obstacles.
